I started off from an idea and a wish. I wanted to eat out with my friends, to eat well and feel full. I worked all day, with no time to stop by home, fed up of all the same tired fast-food sandwiches. I would dream of the times when a hot, tasty meal would be there, on the table, waiting for me.
With something really good. In my dreams, I ate “la mama” – at my mother’s house. That’s how the idea was born. That’s how La Mama was born. Out of need, nostalgia, and why not… out of hunger. My mother always made great food. My mother would never be upset if I ate too much. I’d always feel good eating my mother’s food.
Because it’s something different. We started sixteen years ago, on the 27th of February 1999, with an idea. We tried to keep that idea intact, and even improve it day after day.
