Armenian Street Festival
3 days of cultural experiences where tradition meets innovation! You’ll have the chance to get to know Armenians through their music, dances, traditions and most importantly, food! And who doesn’t love food?
The Armenian Street Festival is reaching its 5th Edition therefore we’re calling this one #hay5! And you guessed it, hay stands for Armenian.
During the 3 days we have many exciting things for you to try. We’re preparing traditional Armenian dishes for you to taste and love forever, a calligraphy workshop where you can see what makes our alphabet not only unique but also a source of inspiration for art. We’re also preparing exhibitions on Armenian personalities right here in Romania and other themes which we are keeping a secret until the event. For those more daring, we have an escape room through which you will learn about the old Armenian school while having a bit of fun, a treasure hunt and guided tours inside the Dudian Museum and the Cathedral, but also the old Armenian neighborhood in Bucharest.
These are just a few and we haven’t even talked about the stage yet (or the bazar/market). Since this is a multicultural event, we will have performers from the Greek, Jewish, Roma & Italian communities, and of course Armenians. Big names in the Romanian music industry will also be present. To name a few performers, you will get to see: Mihai Margineanu & Band, Irina Rimes, Corina Chiriac, Capriel & Garbis Dedeian, Yerevand Margaryan Jazz Quartet and more. Dance groups such as miniVartavar, Hayakaghak, Asteria, Kymata and others will also join in and show you some traditional dance moves. To see a full list of performers, check out our website and Facebook page. We update them constantly.
If you’re in Bucharest during 3-5 August, you really don’t want to miss this festival. Oh, and did we mention the biggest water fight, tradition began in the old days of Armenia? Oh yeah, we like to party and we love water fights. So why not join us? :)
